Tracey Corinne: Los Angeles Mosaic Artist
Mosaic Artist/Fine Artist
Tracey’s creativity was encouraged from the very beginning. When she was 2 her father made her crayons out of soap that she could take to the walls. While her first mosaic was made when she was about 9 or 10 using mustard seeds, cloves and other ingredients from her mother’s spice cabinet, her first professional piece was a 6.5 foot angel, Heaven and Earth for the 2001 installation of “A Community of Angels”, Los Angeles’ largest ever public art project. The angel was a public favorite, voted most beautiful, traveled to multiple locations for display and continues to have an itinerary that rivals a reunion band on tour.
Along the way she won her first national award at age 13 and became fluent in mediums including airbrush illustration, oil and acrylic painting and printmaking. Mosaic however, is her forte and she employs sculpting and ceramics to shape the forms she embellishes with glass and tile. She has honed her mosaic skills by traveling to Italy to learn the ancient methods still in use today. She currently has commissions from clients ranging from the city of Los Angeles for a mosaic hopscotch board to private clients who want countertops, murals and accents.
